5 Reasons Why Women Love World of Warcraft

Women in WoW-A Myth?
Men who have played the mmorpg World of Warcraft since its inception have seen many nubile toons running across Azeroth, yet how many of these avatars really belong to females? Judging by the incredulous looks on the faces of those men I have confessed my love for WoW to, I would have to say most males believe ever female toon in game is really just a many who likes to look at a nicely swaying posterior for hours on end. In reality though, there are plenty of women out there who love World of Warcraft. As well we should! In addition to addictive gameplay, women in WoW also enjoy the following activities...
1. Being Rewarded for Being a "Crazy Cat Lady"
The collection of cats and various other animals in excessive numbers, while frowned on in real life, is celebrated in World of Warcraft. Any gal with a secret desire to become the "crazy cat lady" can have a pink-pig-tailed toon with five cats, four frogs, a prarie dog, dragon hatchling, six moths, and a cockroach, and people will celebrate that! Try doing this in real life and you may have the humane society, as well as the folks from the local mental hospital knocking on your door. Get enough pets and you can even earn "achievements" and rare pets associated with your critter collecting frenzy. Who doesn't want a skunk?
2. Beat up and Mortify Males
In the real world if you were to take an axe to the guy who cut you off and cussed you out in traffic, you'd probably be spending quite a few years in jail. However, in WoW if some snotty Death Knight starts measuring his epeen and trying to be the big man you can challenge him to a duel and wipe the floor with him. The best part? Hopping on voice chat to prove you really are a girl, and watching the embarrassment unfold.
3. Earn Achievements for Being your Loving Self
Of course, if blood and tears aren't your thing, that's ok too. Women can cater to the inner nurturer in themselves by working towards achievements that focus on love rather than hate. Do you love critters and fancy yourself a regular Snow White? Prove it and /love a wide variety of critters throughout Azeroth to earn the achievement "To All the Squirrels I've Loved Before". Like PvP but feel guilty for beating up other players? Earn the "Make Love, Not Warcraft" achievement by hugging a rival dead player's corpse. It's nice to show off your sweet side sometimes ladies.
4. Gender Roles are Different in WoW
Have you ever wanted to just let your ugly side show? Would you like to release the urge to backstab and poison others, or perhaps suck the life right out of them? Wouldn't it be nice if it WERE acceptable to look like a cow, or be a bit...rotten? In World of Warcraft ladies don't have to wear makeup and high heels, instead they can be undead biddies who don't count calories except for when they are cannibalizing the dead...Or a handsome pinto tauren with large horns (no no, on the head!)...Or even a fetching night elf with eggplant-shaded skin. You can heal, protect, or smack the heck out of the bad guys. It's a world with expectations based on whether you are a pally or a priest, not a guy or gal.
5. Ditch the Old "I Have a Headache" Excuse
Looking to put the loving husband off tonight, but really can't claim you have a headache without being taken in for an MRI (gee... you have them so often)? Try this line, it's much better: "But honey, I'm in Ulduar!" Not only will you have a fresh new line to use, you'll also get his jealousy and curiosity roused. Who or what is this Ulduar and why is it so fascinating? Overtures for the return of love and conjugal affection may (should I think) include chocolates, wine, and foot rubs. Beware though, if your man gets sucked into the game, he may never emerge. At least you'll be happy in Azeroth together...unless one of you is Horde and the other is Alliance. Say, conflict can spice up a relationship, right?
Conclusion
World of Warcraft may be a universe largely populated by males, but trust me, we ladies handle ourselves just fine. And gents, remember not every gal out there in Azeroth is a teenage boy. Just FYI.

Wow, I have to say that your post was quite lovely. I was just about to give up on finding a soul mate who shares the passion for World of Warcraft such as myself. I consider myself as pretty attractive and well to do. I mean I have some bills but I manage a Bar and have a three bedroom house, (in which I live alone). I meet women all the time but if I so much as bring up WoW, I can already see the looks on their faces. For that reason I am still single because I refuse to have to hide something I enjoy so much. So I ask you this... Where are you women at? How can I fine a girlfriend who loves WoW like me? Where should I look?
Like your hub~ Sooo truee. Can't agree with you more.
My Wife and I have played Warcraft together for almost 2 years now. We run a guild that not only hosts three of our children, but also at least one other husband /wife team (who we spend alot of time ingame with). And the best part is, the women are our WARRIORS. Our Heals come from mostly male players.
I never noticed how many female players have WoW until I joined mangahunter.com forum. Lot of girls there play WoW! and other games too... At least in my country it is hard to find a girl who likes to play games. My ex-girlfriend never went beyond Bejeweled. I couldnt even make her watch Naruto or Kenichi.
What a fun hub! I'm a female gamer too (although I haven't gotten into WOW yet), so I really appreciated it! :)
It's funny. I probably would have gone bankrupt had I kept playing WOW. I escaped. :) It's so fun, but I may be too addictive. Haha. I know quite a few girls who love it.
I'm female too, have a 80 bloodelf mage & 80 bloodelf hunter
It is nice to know there are other woman playing WOW. I have encouraged a couple of my married friends to join in the fun with their husbands after they have shared their frustrations for which I could not support as I am a single woman who loves WOW for many of the reasons listed above. I am going to have to try the extra pet acheivements as well as sharing a little love with the enemy. I find WOW to be a great place to let the not so girly side free. I have confused so many people with the fact that I am a WOW lover!
Haha this is great hub. I play WoW regularly aswell and I met a lot of women in game which I find very nice. Cheers for the hub
I just this. I recently started playing WoW myself (much to my husband's surprise) and at first I was like meh... and then I was addicted. I thought I'd played for about a half hour and when I looked at the clock I was shocked to see that it had been about three hours! Good hub!
Loved the hub and I've been a victim of the WOW version of "I have a headache" excuse many a time. At least it's not only me :)
